NEW YORK - U.S. President Barack Obama presided 24th September session of the United Nations Security Council, which is dedicated to non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, said the U.S. ambassador to the UN Susan Rice.
This is the first time in history that a sitting U.S. president chairs the UN Security Council, she said at a news conference, which presented a program of the Security Council for September, when the U.S. team chair petnaestočlanim body.

"The focus this session will be non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear disarmament in general, not a single country," she said.
"The key areas that will be highlighted include arms control, nuclear disarmament and strengthening the regime of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation Nuclear Weapons (NPT), as well as prevention of trafficking in nuclear materials and storage," added the American ambassador.
Rice said she expects that many, if not all 15 members of the UN Security Council to attend the meeting.
Plus climate change
In addition to the summit of the Non-Proliferation of nuclear weapons, President Obama will speak at the opening of the summit on climate change 22nd September, confirmed Rice.
In accordance with tradition, the UN, the U.S. president will address the 23rd UN General Assembly September, the first day of the 64th annual meeting of that body.
It is expected that President Obama will spend three days at the UN, told the "Voice of America."
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also be at the UN this month, where he will attend the meeting of the Security Council, which is expected to adopt a resolution to increase the protection of women in conflict zones.
