A court in Sri Lanka Tamil journalist sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for publishing articles that criticized government actions in the war against the rebel Tamil Tigers.
Journalist J.S. Tisainajagam texts published in the 2006th and 2007. in the now extinguished magazine, among other things, accused the authorities that the purpose of retreating in the war food and other necessities with the territories that were inhabited mostly darkness.
Today's verdict in the Supreme Court verdict is the right one journalist in Sri Lanka under the Law on the Prevention of Terrorism. Movement Liberation Tigers Tamil Elam, who fought for the independence of ethnic minority Tamil people, was declared terorističom organization.
The Judge said that Tisainajagamovim sister violated the law on combating terrorism as it had the aim of creating disharmony. She said that was convicted for collecting money for the journal in which published articles that have violated the law.
Government troops were defeated this year, thus ending the Tamil Tigers 25-year civil war which killed between 80,000 and 100,000 people.
