Medvedev introduced restrictions on the sale of beer

Russian President Dmitry Mededev introduced restrictions on the sale of beer and similar drinks in the first step in the fight against alcoholism in Russia.

Medvedev has previously spoken publicly about the problem of alcoholism in Russia and the consequences for the welfare of the nation.

New measures allowed to sell beer in cans or bottles in volume greater than one-third liter.
The new rules apply to drinks with a small percentage of alcohol, but not wine, vodka and other alcoholic beverages.
